Restaurant Tax Rate
My wife and I had lunch at a popular local restaurant the other day. I charged the meal to my credit card and received a receipt for the payment, a portion of which is shown here.
I was curious about the tax rate that the restaurant used to calculate the amount of tax shown on the receipt, so I made the following calculations:
To check that I had the correct tax rate, I then used the tax rate I had calculated to check that amount of our total check by doing the following calculations:
