Please note that I live and work in Arizona where we are on Mountain Standard Time all year round. Unlike most of the rest of the United States, Arizona (except for certain isolated locations within the state) does not observe Daylight Saving Time (DST) during the summer months.

      About Me

I am originally from a small town in eastern Pennsylvania where I was in the same high school graduating class as my wife of almost 62 years. We retired to Prescott, AZ in 2002 and have three grown children, all of whom live in California. (My wife passed away in April 2021.) I have degrees in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University (an all-male school at that time) and Penn State University (home of the Nittany Lions).

I’ve worked for several well-known companies such as Exxon-Mobile (it was Esso back then) and Honeywell, and I’ve taught at colleges and universities such as Penn State, Villanova, and Azusa Pacific University. I’ve taught chemical engineering as well as computer science courses and various levels of math for ump-teen years, both in the face-to-face and online environments.

I’ve been performing in musical groups, both vocal and instrumental, for just about all of my life. In college, I played percussion instruments in the marching, concert, and dance bands and sang in the glee club. I’ve participated in musical and drama productions at my church, and I’ve played in the Concert Band and the Symphonic Band at Yavapai College, playing primarily the mallet instruments like vibes and chimes along with drums and other percussion ’traps’.

You can email me at richardaeckhart@gmail.com if you have any questions or comments.
